Introduction: Local casual restaurant that offers a Cajun Creole inspired flair infused with Canadian classics.
Breakfast #1: Crab & Asparagus omelet $16.25

Since this restaurant has Louisiana origins, I wanted to try a different take on the usual omelet. It was an unusual combination of crabmeat and cheddar jack cheese inside the omelette topped with grilled asparagus, and to my surprise, I liked it a lot. The omelette itself was soft and fluffy. One critique was that the filling was not very flavourful by itself, but tasted so much better with the rich hollandaise sauce on top. The potatoes were crispy, and the whole grain toasts were crunchy and slathered with butter - delicious! 8.5/10
Breakfast #2: Banana's Foster french toast $14.95

Either I have an insatiable appetite, or I have a separate stomach for sweets. I also happen to be a huge lover of bananas, pecans and caramel and what do you know? This french toast has all of that combined. Two thick slices of brioche bread dipped in egg and topped with all my favourite things, plus whip cream. However, I did find the bread itself to be a tad dry and not "eggy" enough (I usually like my french toast to have that melt-in-your-mouth kind of feel). The caramel drizzle was too little for the amount of bread, so I poured extra maple syrup on top. All in all, I liked the idea of it, but not my favourite french toast. 6.5/10

Tooloulou’s should be named T-ou-laa-laa!!! Looks delicious, Elaine!
